About Us
Empowering Communities Through TechnologyITAfrica (Innovative Technologies Africa NPC) is a non-profit organization driven by the INNOVATECH™ Group, dedicated to advancing economic growth and technological innovation across Africa. Founded to bridge Africa’s technology gap, ITAfrica equips underserved communities with essential digital skills, creating sustainable job opportunities and empowering individuals to participate in today’s digital economy.
Who are We?
Based in South Africa, we are a team of passionate “tech extraverts” and community builders focused on bringing technology to those who need it most. Our daily work involves developing tech talent, building pathways to careers, and fostering innovation by offering accessible training in web development, software engineering, cybersecurity, and other high-demand fields. Through our Community Tech Centers, we are building a bridge to sustainable, impactful careers in technology for individuals from previously disadvantaged backgrounds.
Our Mission and Vision
Mission
Our mission is to bridge Africa’s technology gap by creating sustainable employment opportunities through job-ready training, workforce development, and access to advanced learning resources. With a strong focus on underserved communities, we strive to empower individuals to become skilled professionals in technology, prepared for long-term success in a global economy.
Vision
Our vision is to be a catalyst for technological innovation and economic growth across the continent. Africa faces a significant technology gap that limits economic opportunities and contributes to high unemployment rates, particularly among youth. ITAfrica is committed to closing this gap by creating accessible, inclusive pathways to technology careers.
Our Story
ITAfrica was founded to address the critical need for skilled professionals in Africa’s technology sector. With increasing global demand for tech talent and high unemployment rates in many African regions, the technology gap has limited individuals and communities from reaching their full potential. Recognising this challenge, the INNOVATECH™ Group launched ITAfrica as a solution to develop local talent, build sustainable employment opportunities, and support economic growth through technology.
Our organisation was born out of a deep commitment to community upliftment and economic empowerment. We envision a future where individuals across Africa have the skills, knowledge, and resources needed to thrive in the technology industry. With our first Community Tech Center set to open in January 2025, we are on a mission to make technology accessible to all and to drive Africa’s transformation through education, training, and innovation.
Our Community Tech Centers
At the heart of our approach are ITAfrica’s Community Tech Centers – accessible hubs that provide training facilities, innovation labs, resource libraries, and career support services. These centers serve as entry points into the tech industry, empowering individuals to gain practical skills, collaborate on projects, and access job placement support.
Each Community Tech Center is designed to foster local innovation, inspire entrepreneurial thinking, and create meaningful career pathways for individuals who may otherwise lack access to such resources. As we grow, we plan to establish new centers across Africa, extending our reach and deepening our impact.
Our Phased Approach
To build a sustainable foundation and expand responsibly, ITAfrica has a phased approach to growth:
Phase 1
Pilot Program (Year 1)
Launch with up to 10 candidates in temporary rented premises, essential staff, and facilities. Phase 1 focuses on initial infrastructure setup and introduces our Research & Development (R&D) initiative.
Phase 2
Refine & Scale (Years 2 to 5)
Expand the program, adding more candidates and increasing digital outreach. We will select and acquire a new site to establish ITAfrica’s headquarters and further develop our R&D initiative.
Phase 3
Full-Scale Operations (Year 5+)
Build a full-scale ITAfrica Technology Campus, including specialised training tracks in robotics, IoT, and other high-demand fields.
We aim to launch a minimum of one additional Community Tech Center per year across key regions, empowering thousands of individuals annually.
